Current status and future exchanges of hemodialysis engineers in China
Academic and technical exchanges in the field of clinical engineering between China and Japan began in 2010. Within these exchanges, the increasing number of dialysis patients in China led to the need to support efforts toward improving the quality of hemodialysis therapy and establishing legal qualifications for dialysis technicians. In 2012, the Japan Society of Clinical Engineers and its International Exchange Committee launched the "Japan-China Exchange Project" as a Japan-China technical exchange initiative.
To support improvements in the quality of hemodialysis therapy, academic support has primarily been provided by dispatching Japanese experts on dialysate purification to give lectures. In addition, to support the establishment of certification legislation, educational textbooks for Japanese clinical engineers have been donated, educational curricula have been provided, and lectures have been given on the content of Japan's dialysis certification system.
